Man Earth Guardians - When Are
We Going to the Playa?: Calendar of Events April 6- Burning Man Town Hall Meeting - San Francisco - 11 am-3pm * SomArts Gallery

April 19 - Wilderness Restoration Activities- Doobie Lane * Sometimes known as Guru
Road, this is an art installation which starts about 3 miles north of Gerlach
on Rte. 34 and meanders along for nearly 3 miles more. Installations such
as the "Wedding Chapel" and "TV Station" have been severely weathered
and need maintenance, and the entire road needs to be canvassed for trash.
* Come learn and enjoy
the desert with workshops on Wilderness Restoration, Leave No Trace, and
Invasive Plant Identification.
April 27- Wilderness Restoration Activities- Black Rock desert * Take the wilderness back
from the roads: Volunteers are invited to work with BLM/AmeriCorps crews
to restore closed roads and ways in the Black Rock-High Rock Wilderness
areas.
April 27- Initial scoping and weed removal meeting for Earth Guardian Restoration project - Garret Ranch * Join Earth Guardians
in working to restore this degraded spring into a green oasis. * For Info:

May 10/11 - (Sat and Sun) LNT Backpacking Trip * This is the
annual Earth Guardian Backpacking trip to an area in the mountains
around the Black Rock desert. This is our most important training
for
the year.
May 12-16 - (Mon - Fri) LNT Masters Training - Hosted by BLM / NOLS * Backpack
in the East Fork High Rock Canyon Wilderness.
May 17/18 - (Sat and Sun) Assessment of Historic Sites - High Rock Canyon * BLM needs volunteers
to help them assess historic sites in the area
June 14/15- (Sat and Sun) Exploring Trip -Visit High Rock Canyon and help locate historic sites * Explore spectacular
High Rock Canyon and help BLM find historic traces of pioneers and
settlers

June 28 - (Sat) Rene Lassen Historic Tour - Friends of Black Rock trip * Mt. Lassen,
Lassen National Park and the Applegate-Lassen Trail are just a few namesakes
that bear Peter Lassenís name. Peter Lassenís greatÖnephew, Rene
Lassen, a Danish schoolteacher, has spent numerous summers in the United
States researching his uncleís history. He will provide humorous
insights and slides on his famous or infamous uncle.
