2007 Calendar

April 14 - Green House - Burning Man Office in San Francisco

  • In celebration of this year's Green Man theme - Burning Man is hosting a Green Open House.
  • Events on the solar stage include a recycled fashion show, music, eco-puppets shows, and speakers on green technologies
  • There will also be an eco-faire with games, demonsrtations of green technologies (like the solar death ray 2000), LNT grey water systems and green vehicles and RVs.
  • Volunteers from Earth Guardians, Recycle Camp, DPW and others will be there to help answer questions on how you can green your burn.

May 12/13 : LNT Scouting Trip

  • Come join senior EG's exploring wilderness areas around the Black Rock Desert NCA to prepare for this year's annual LNT training trip in June.

May 26-27- Black Rock Rendezvous - Black Rock NCA

  • Come join Friends of Black Rock High Rock and the BLM at the Black Rock Rendezvous.
  • Earth Guardians will giving a LNT & Greening Your Burn workshop and hosting a table
  • Other workshops on Rock Art, Emigrant Trails, Tread Lightly, wilderness monitoring, playa dynamics, and NCA volunteer programs will be offered. Peter Goin, co-author of Black Rock, will be present for the closing keynote.
  • BBQ potluck, socializing, music from the Wild Creek Band (bluegrass). Followed by a camp-out at the Cassidy Mine (Free to members of Friends of Black Rock - $25) , meet other Black Rock User Groups
  • Black Rock Desert Tours offered on Sunday after breafast with WIll Roger and the Friends of Black Rock. Tours offered include: (1) Guru Road/Fly Geyser, (2) Granite Mountain Petroglyphs, (3) Soldier Meadows/High Rock Canyon, (4) Calico Hills Wilderness hike, or (5) the Black Rock Range rock hound hike. Sunday night there will be a potluck dinner at Cassidy Mine, hosted by Will Rogers. At 7:00pm the campout continues wth Frame of Mind Jam and Funk under the stars.

June 9/10 - (Sat and Sun) Earth Guardian LNT/Green Backpacking Trip

  • This is the annual Earth Guardian Backpacking trip to an area in the mountains around the Black Rock desert. This is our
    most important training for the year and a retreat for educators.
  • The weekend is centered on teaching Leave No Trace and Greening Your Burn to participants in Black Rock City.
  • This will be the 5th trip lead by Burning Mans own LNT Masters, so will developed specifically for the BM community

June 9/10 : Wall Canyon Volunteer Event in Black Rock

  • Come join the Nevada Department of Wildlife in one of the most pristine spots in Black Rock.
  • We will be at Wall Canyon, just north of the East Fork of High Rock Canyon Wildernss Area

June 13 : LNT and Burning Man Presentation

  • Come learn about Burning Man, Leave No Trace, and all things green.
  • Wedensday afternoon (4:00 pm) at the Incline Village, NV public Library

June 15/17 : Archeological Survey in Black Rock

  • Come join Earth Guardians volunteers helping survey the Black Rock springs.
  • We will be assisting BLM archeologist Dave Valentine
  • There will be an optional work day or hike on Sunday

June 30 : Annual Guru Road Restoration Project

  • Meet at Guru Road (also know as Doobie Lane), 8 am.
  • Help to Restore this interactive rock art expericence with Friends of Black Rock, High Rock.

July 7/8 : North Black Rock Range Volunteer Event in Black Rock

  • Come join volunteers for a day of road restoration and fence enclosure to be followed by a potluck dinner on Saturday evening.
  • We will be assisting the Nevada Outdoor Education School
  • There will be a beautiful and information hike on Sunday

July 14 : Earth Guardian Banadana and MOOP Bag Silkscreening Volunteer Get-together

  • We'll be silkscreening Earth Guardians Bandanas and MOOP bags for BM 2007 .
  • Bring your own Tshirts and sewing machine (to attach straps to the bags).
  • Join us at Loki's place in Oakland, we'll share food, beer and ideas about our camp and volunteer teams this year at Burning Man
  • We'll be starting at 10 am on Saturday, we may continue on Sunday depending upon progress on Saturday.

August 11/12 : Black Rock Desert/Perseids Meteor Shower Camp Out

  • Come join us camping under the stars and experiencing the meteor shower.
  • Followed by a volunteer event in the Calico Wilderness on Sunday.

August 28/29 : Coyote Springs Restoration Project

  • Come up early for Burning Man to work with Earth Guardians and Friends of Black Rock at a Restoration Workshop!
  • Help to restore this sensitive area and learn about restoration techniques. We will also be working and visting the site during Burning Man.

August 27 - September 3 : Burning Man!

  • See you all in Black Rock City
  • We'll have daily yoga, workshops, black rock displays, check out our events schedule
  • Join one of our volunteer teams!

September 29 : National Public Lands Day

  • Festivities begin at 9am Saturday morning at a site in the Black Rock Wilderness
  • Example Projects include: Erecting gates and information signs at High Rock Canyon to implement a seasonal closure and to provide important use information. Construct walking paths improving access to interpretive information.
  • There will be a BBQ on Saturday night and breakfast provided on Sunday morning
  • The Nevada Outdoor School has provided inquirey based education programs for youngsters at past events. Check out www.nevadaoutdoorschool.com
